Presentation

We started with the premise that Europe enjoys insufficient support in terms of its image and identity at a time when the place it occupies in the political, economic and socio-cultural lives of its citizens has never been greater. Our aim is to make our pupils reflect on the importance of the role Europe plays in our everyday lives, its construction and to better understand the reality from a local perspective.
To start this two-year project, each school will initially collect information and present information to explain how their country has shaped and been shaped by closer European integration over the past fifty years. In the meeting in France each country participating in the project presents its work.
In the first year of the project we will also select and rank buildings in the vicinity of each school in terms of their importance to inhabitants allowing interesting comparisons to be made during the second meeting in Cyprus, which will focus on regional identity.
In the second year of the project we shall create a common questionnaire on the prospects offered by closer European integration aimed at local business leaders enabling conclusions to be drawn regarding economic identity.  We shall also examine the causes and consequences of poverty in each of our countries. This time the meeting will take place in Poland.
Finally changes in cultural identity will be studied by organizing interviews between pupils and elderly people to find how popular culture in each country has evolved over the last two generations. We shall conclude our project in Portugal where meetings between pupils and artists based close to school will happen.
